The $819 billion + economic stimulus bill passed by a vote of 244 to 188 with none of the House’s 178 Republicans voting for it. The bill was a huge money grab for Barack Obama and the liberals in Congress. It’s nice to see the Republicans growing some courage and standing up against this insult to the American people. The 11 Democrats who rejected the bill deserve credit for standing up to their party.
“The bill is extremely expensive for what you get out of it.” — Rep. Michael Castle, R-Del
“Most Republicans will oppose this bill for one reason: It won’t work.” — Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind
“We’re using our economic woes to grow government spending to epic and historic proportions.” — Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Calif
“Only about 11 percent of this $1.1 trillion bill actually has anything to do with stimulating the economy. It’s become a huge, massive spending bill.” — Rep. Don Manzullo, R-Illinois
“What good is a tax cut when you don’t have a job?” — House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C.
The first stimulus package did not work because it was chasing good money after bad. This takes that to a level beyond comprehension. The nerve of these wolves to take advantage of Americans like this is incredible. We need reform. You know – improvements to the system. The Senate will hopefully fix some of this, but to think the liberals passed this through at the begging of Barack Obama is a shame. You might think you got something out of this, but you’ll pay for it in many ways for years to come. Now you see what happens when liberals have complete control of the government and the media.
