Most Expensive and Undignified Presidential Inauguration In History

The President to be and the Party of the poor are hosting a $150 million dollar Presidential inauguration. In fact, the Hollywood style party is the most expensive in history. How many poor people would that money feed? Isn’t this the worst economic crisis since the great depression?

Liberals screamed that President Bush should keep costs down in his 2004/2005 inauguration. Now, with the most expensive inauguration in history on tap, where are the cries for restraint? In 2005, Reps. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., and Jim McDermott, D-Wash., wrote a letter to President Bush:

President Roosevelt held his 1945 inaugural at the White House, making a short speech and serving guests cold chicken salad and plain pound cake. During World War I, President Wilson did not have any parties at his 1917 inaugural, saying that such festivities would be undignified.”

Isn’t that the way these things were supposed to be? Undignified and hypocritical would be the right words to use in this case. Democrats are supposed to be the party of the poor, yet they are usually the ones who blow the most money. The money doesn’t matter when they do it. It doesn’t matter, because it is about perception and justification:

“That is probably not the way the country is going to be looking at it. It is not a celebration of an election. It is a celebration of our common values.” — Committee Spokeswoman Linda Douglass on Barack Obama’s $150 million dollar inauguration

I guess the translation of that is: “Our guy won so do as we say and not as we do.” What utter hypocrisy. When they blow the money they justify it by empty liberal doublespeak. This is Hollywood’s President, so we should not be surprised that they do things in style while preaching about restraint to the rest of us. The mainstream media is not going to make a big deal about it because of their love affair with Barack Obama and the Democrats. The reality is that the Democrat party is blowing a record amount of money on this inauguration at a time when so many people are hurting. That is the bottom line.
