Is Cynthia McKinney Intentionally Aiding Hamas?

Cop slapping former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has been causing headaches for the Israeli navy. McKinney and a boat load of “international peace activists” ran into an alert Israeli naval ship. The supposed relief vessel carrying the former Congresswoman was bumped three times and sent back.

Yigal Palmor, a spokesman for Israel’s Foreign Ministry said there was no response to a radio warning and the ship then tried to out-maneuver the Israeli patrol boat. These activists are organized by the “Free Gaza Group.” They said their 66-foot yacht would defy an Israeli blockade of Gaza.

“She has stood with people all over this planet against oppression.” — Hugh Esco, the person who ran McKinney’s failed presidential campaign Web site.

Has she stood with the oppressed people of Israel? if so, why is she saying she will petition Barack Obama to speak out on the “attacks” on Gaza? McKinney, in her rantings claimed the weapons being used by Israel were supplied by the United States. Does that sound like someone who is impartial? Obviously she is not partial to Israel. Where was she when Israel was taking daily rocket fire from the Palestinian terrorists?

When you ignore radio contact from a navy at the height of a war and then try to outrun them, you are lucky your ship wasn’t destroyed. It would have been within Israel’s right to defend itself if they had done so. Under these circumstances they have to assume the ship might have weapons for their enemy or be themselves a terrorist threat.

It is pretty clear that this wasn’t simply a humanitarian effort. It was an effort to, at the very least, impede Israel’s navy and create negative publicity for Israel in the middle of a battle to defend it’s citizens.

“Israel is looking to give its citizens a decent life, the right to live in peace and quiet like any other citizens in the world.” — Israel’s foreign minister Tzipi Livni
