Rush Limbaugh asked on today’s radio show the question “who are we to say what the ideal temperature of the planet is?” I discussed this same question in my blog back in December 2006 titled ‘What is the Proper Temperature for the Planet?’.

I maintain that this is the most critical question there is on the global warming issue. Even if you concede that the climate is getting warmer, which it hasn’t in the last decade - what would the ideal temperature be for the planet? We know for a fact that there has always been warming and cooling, sometimes drastic temperature shifts. We are here now so we could say that we are a product of these changing weather patterns. Perhaps we would not be here had it happened any differently.

So with all the various changes in temperatures throughout the millenniums, what would the right temperature be? What it was 100 years ago? 200? Yesterday? If we could somehow lock it in, what would it be? Would we change the seasons and make every day the same? Would life still exist? How do we know that another 5 degrees warmer wouldn’t be ideal? You could make a good argument for it, since there would be more places to grow crops on an overpopulated planet.

The truth is, the future of our planet hinges on the potential overreaction to things we cannot change. We cannot change the weather, but we can destroy the economy. We see how fragile it is right now. Global warming taxes and regulations would be a hit on our economy the likes we have never seen, causing many of the dire consequences the global warming hucksters are predicting.

Economists are arguing whether or not we are in a recession right now and the majority of the population is very concerned about rising gas and food prices. You certainly don’t want to live through a depression, especially in the world we live in today. We are not self sufficient in the least. We can handle the weather, because most people will rise up and deal with it together. Not so easy when the economy collapses. People become helpless when they are hopeless.

You see what’s being done about rising prices of fuel and food. Nothing. Citizens and politicians alike are standing around scratching their heads in futility. We are reaping the failed/ nonexistent energy policies of the last 16 years. I’m sure the snake oil salesmen who brought you global warming will also have the upgraded snake oil in the future that will save us from the side effects of the current version.

This is one of the more rational writeups you’re gonna see from a modern day Hollywood person. I’m not sure Angelina Jolie actually wrote it herself, but since she’s willing to take credit for it, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. Some of the things she said flies in the face of what a lot of the Hollywood Anti-Americans have said relentlessly in the past, so the contrast is why I’m writing about it.

I don’t necessarily agree with every word in her article, such as calling terrorist Syria good hosts to Iraqi refugees, but I won’t argue about the fine print…

As for the question of whether the surge is working, I can only state what I witnessed: U.N. staff and those of non-governmental organizations seem to feel they have the right set of circumstances to attempt to scale up their programs. And when I asked the troops if they wanted to go home as soon as possible, they said that they miss home but feel invested in Iraq. They have lost many friends and want to be a part of the humanitarian progress they now feel is possible.

It seems to me that now is the moment to address the humanitarian side of this situation. Without the right support, we could miss an opportunity to do some of the good we always stated we intended to do.

George Clooney also seemed to have a rare moment of reality when he questioned the results of his own efforts on Darfur. This is why just being nice and throwing money at a problem like this isn’t the answer. There are violent, heartless people in the world, and the only way to help those who are suffering is to also deal with those who are committing the evil acts. Food, water and supplies have very limited effect when they are destroyed. They actually help those responsible for the atrocities when they are stolen, not to mention that these things are of no help if you are murdered…

Blog Chow Comment: Sgt. Wayne Leyde stopped by the convenience for a Coke and a beef jerky. He walked out with a million dollar lotto ticket. He’s served twice in Iraq and he is still volunteering for a 3rd tour before spending any of his winnings. That is dedication and belief in what he is doing.

This is a story that is already getting far less attention than it should. Ralph Nader has sued the Democratic Party for conspiring to keep him from taking votes from John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election. Nader alleges the D.N.C. conspired to force him off the ballet in several states.

This is obviously important in regards to keeping the voting process fair for all Americans. It is perhaps equally important in revealing the incredible hypocrisy of liberal politicians. They claimed they wanted every vote counted during the 2000 election, when in fact it appeared to me they only wanted votes counted that were friendly to Al Gore. How many times have we heard allegations of voter fraud mouthed from the same people who appear to condone it?

This lawsuit really underscores their hypocrisy. It also raises more suspicions on the push to give illegal aliens drivers licenses, such as in N.Y. State by Elliot Spitzer. A driver’s license for those illegally entering the country would no doubt greatly increase the likelihood of voter fraud on an unprecedented scale.

The party that has loudly claimed they wanted every vote counted has a lot to answer for. Hillary Clinton, who had previously been silent on the drivers license controversy, appeared to panic as she flip flopped when confronted with the issue during the latest presidential debate. Regardless of what party you support, you should be concerned with equal rights for all candidates and voters.

I have long wondered why someone like bin laden, who encourages martyrdom, hides in a cave, instead of becoming a martyr himself. I figured it was simply because he was a coward, but now perhaps there is a better theory. Homeland Security Adviser, Fran Townsend said: “This is about the best he can do “a man on a run, from a cave, who’s virtually impotent…” She made the impotent reference a couple times on the Sunday talk shows. I guess that would explain why he is in no hurry to meet up with all those virgins. I guess they might be virgins for a very long time. I think there might be 72 very disappointed two ton women, and a badly beaten 6′5 rag doll.

note: Even if alive, bin laden is merely a symbol of terrorism. If he is captured or we find out he is dead, the war on terror will not be over. Bin laden is neither a leader, nor a martyr. Just a sickly stick figure hiding in a cave, if not buried in one.

Senator and Democrat presidential contender Barack Obama says sex education for kindergarteners “is the right thing to do.” To say this is inappropriate is an understatement. What possible purpose can sex education to little kids serve? The only purpose I can see is to begin to indoctrinate them into perverse views before they are even close to puberty. Learning about sex with the alphabet would be a funny thought if it weren’t really coming from a presidential candidate. Snack time, nap time and “kissing your same sex best friend on the lips might be fun if you try it” time.

Obama also went on to say: “If they ask a teacher ‘where do babies come from,’ that providing information that the fact is that it’s not a stork is probably not an unhealthy thing. Although again, that’s going to be determined on a case by case basis by local communities and local school boards.”

What parent wants to leave such decisions up to the local community/school board? Talk about gambling with the lives of your children. Why should you allow the fate of your children in the hands of some individual who may have some kind of twisted agenda? When you have such ill defined standards abuse will be rampant. Will it be your kids who suffer?

There was a time when there was no sex education and yet the human race somehow didn’t go extinct. Teaching kids about things long before nature has had a chance to do what nature does is brainwashing of a sick kind. A child will survive not knowing the mechanics of how to make a baby at 5 years of age. Certainly letting strangers do it should be considered outright abuse. Teaching them about alternative lifestyles at that age is something that could cause citizens to take the law into their own hands.

Politicians do not tire of taking rights away from citizens. They seize on an opportunity to take away a right and then they take a little more after some of the anger has died down. Systematically and relentlessly they are taking away the rights of parents to even teach their kids right from wrong. Now we are slowly but surely slipping into areas that weren’t even imaginable a few years ago. Their warped ideas might be a little different, but they are using methods that would make Adolf Hitler proud.

As far as Obama is concerned, you can bet he is going to tip-toe around the issue. Those on the extreme left already get the message and like it, but those outside of partisan politics will be fed something much more palatable. Remember, they are chipping away at your rights and beliefs, not doing it all in one fell swoop. I would not support anyone on either side of the political aisle who advocates any such things.

President Bush said today: "When we start drawing down our forces in Iraq, it will be because our military commanders say the conditions on the ground are right, not because pollsters say it’ll be good politics." That is consistent with what he has said all along. If he does anything other than that, he will be a liar and will have compromised the safety of the United States of America and the world for that matter.

So much time wasted by our leaders trashing our soldiers and the war effort. Dividing Americans in a time of war. Time that could have been spent uniting, instead of dividing. Time that could have been spent actually trying to make things better, instead of trying to elevate their own political ambitiions. The same goes for the media in general and some entertainers taking advantage of a difficult situation and playing on peoples emotions in an attempt to advance thier own careers and agendas.

Even though the troup surge in Iraq was announce earlier in the year, it is just going into full operation. What a slap in the face to the military to say they have failed when that aspect of the war is just getting started. If it doesn’t work then another adjustment should be made and we should press on until victory is achieved. Let’s learn the lesson of Vietnam. The lesson is not to cut and run. The lesson is to NOT tie the hands of the military and lose a war in the media.

There will be mass genocide in Iraq if we tuck tail and run. That should be enough reason to stay. How do we selectively decide which groups of people we allow to be slaughtered? We save the people in Darfur because Hollywood do-gooders want to look like they care, but let the Iraqi’s die? What hypocrisy! Why allow terrorists to flourish in Iraq, but go after them in Afghanistan? If we do these things, then it is about appearances and not about doing what needs to be done.

These are terrorists committing terrorist acts in Iraq. There are connections not only to Iran, but to Russia and China. If they are aiding those who aid terrorists are they not a threat themselves? Not to mention when Russian or Chinese weapons wind up on the ground in Iraq. It is a dangerous world, and if we don’t confront Iraq, Iran and reign in Russia and China, the freedoms you enjoy today will become lost forever. That is pretty serious. There are serious things happening in the world and burying our heads in the sand will not make it go away.

All Michael Bloomberg knows is he’s rich and he wants to be President. A chameleon willing to be whatever works at the time. Sounds like a rich liberal to me, but that’s not really news.

How convenient. That would be a great statement if he had any credibility left. Why didn’t he use that approach when he ran for mayor instead of becoming a Republican? The truth is, he could never win the Republican or Democrat nomination so there’s a potential opportunity as an Independent. There are very few true Independents. Bloomberg doesn’t appear to be one of them. You can be non-partisan as mayor because political affiliation is far less important as a mayor than as President.

Mayor Bloomberg was asked by a New York Sun reporter about claims that releasing the gun trace data could prompt a wave of lawsuits against gun dealers and manufacturers.

“Let me just get this straight. You’re worried about lawsuits and I’m worried about going to funerals? That’s the story. Which would you rather have? There’s no flurry of lawsuits. If people obeyed the law, there wouldn’t be any reason to sue,” Mr. Bloomberg said. “That’s a ridiculous argument to make.”

This is a back door attempt to take away the right to bear arms. You know there will be a wave of lawsuits. Look at the tobacco industry. This would be far more insidious. There is obviously a constitutional right to bear arms. Political opportunists love to pass laws for the sake of passing laws. Makes it look like they are accomplishing something, when they are usually eroding rights and doing more harm than good.

You hear the hypocrite entertainers and political opportunists speaking out on Darfur. What will they say now that they’ve gotten what they asked for? They are hypocrites because they feel the Iraqi’s should fend for themselves and we should not stop the murder, torture and rape of their citizens. How many times have we heard that it’s their problem and none of our business? Yet they feel we should stop it in Darfur.

How do we do that without using force? The truth is it probably can’t be done. So now that we’ve done the obligatory sanctions and U.N. route, what will the phony liberals complain about now? Will it be on to the next in vogue Hollywood cause for their photo ops or will they just stick to the old standby that “it’s President Bush’s fault,” even when he does what they ask for?

It seems charity and good causes pay in the entertainment industry. I would estimate some of these entertainers get about $5 in publicity for every dollar’s worth of their money/time. It’s not a bad investment. Darfur has many of the usual cast of characters who are on the bandwagon. The likes of George Clooney and Angelina Jolie jockey for attention. Again, the hypocrisy seems to reveal where a lot of people’s motivations lie.

I can’t say for sure who cares and who doesn’t, but who wouldn’t be charitable if they got the return on investment that some of these people get? It’s just my opinion, but I think the people who tend to care the most are the ones who work behind the scenes and who give mostly in private. We know people like Oprah and Bono have a public track record for being loving and caring and pure as the wind driven snow. What about people who give in private who don’t get the publicity? I salute the latter.

Sadly for those who are suffering, this effort is not likely to make much of a difference. The sanctions/U.N. route seldom gets much in the way of results. It’s simply too much time wasted when they need immediate help. Too little too late. How can freedom win when it comes to the U.N. when they have terrorist supporting countries as well as China and Russia as voting members? It seems incredibly unproductive and immoral to seek U.N. approval for anything, but that’s where we are now at. We need a permission slip from a corrupt U.N. for most of what we now do. If you’re not a self serving politician or publicity hound, it’s probably not good news for you.
