Hope that Barack Obama would pick a Supreme Court judge who would represent all the people and uphold the constistution appears to have hit a brick wall with his selection of controversial appeals court judge Sonia Sotomayor. Her own quotes show her lack of credibility and trustworthiness for being on the Supreme Court:
The court of appeals is where policy is made. And I know — I know this is on tape, and I should never say that because we don’t make law. I know. O.K. I know. I’m not promoting it. I’m not advocating it. I’m — you know. — Sonia Sotomayor
She said those words all the while her supporters are chuckling in the background and she herself chuckles while she said it. She is like a schoolgirl who says: “no Mom, I don’t smoke pot,” while giggling with her friends. If that is not the proverbial wink and a nod then nothing is. See/hear the video of Sonia Sotomayor basically admitting to being okay with flushing the Constitution down the toilet in favor of her own biases. Now you know Barack Obama’s pick is fine with legislating from the bench, but what about her belief in the equality of the races and sexes?
“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male…” — Sonia Sotomayor
Could you imagine if a white man had uttered words of superiority like that? This same Sotomayor voted against a discrimination case brought when 20 firefighters filed suit after the city of New Haven, Conn. threw out the results of 2 promotion tests because there weren’t any black applicants who passed the test. One of the firefighters was also Hispanic. In a color blind society 20 people who worked hard to get a promotion would not be slapped down based on the color of their skin. This is Barack Obama’s pick for Supreme Court. That particular case is ironically before the Supreme Court. The controversial Sotomayor has been overturned by the Supreme Court 80% of the time, further showing her lack of competence to take on such a lofty seat where she is supposed to defend the constitution, not rewrite it.
